Slawka Gorna Artist's Statement: "I have been an artist since I can remember. I feel that to be an artist means to look at the reality in a certain way. I have always believed, and still do, that the reality is a subject for interpretation. It is here for us to challenge it, bend it and transform it as we see fit. Despite the facts, which will always remain untouched, the inner understanding and approach to reality can be shifted, interpreted and transformed in infinite numbers of ways. Dwelling into that infinity of unknown, sometimes controversial, and dangerous realms of the reality shaped me into an artist and the person I am Today. I think that in Today's world the greatest challenge for an artist is to stay true to himself and his vision regardless of current marketing trends and expectations of social and political correctness." |
