Eleanor Tomkins

Eleanor Tomkins grew up an only child on a small farm next to a large wood in Derbyshire. She spent happy summer days playing in the fieds with her two dogs, Poppy and Minka as well as some odd imaginary characters. Indoors, Eleanor brought the characters to life, building them out of clay and Fimo, painting them and giving them as gifts.

School was generally uninspiring, however art and design classes provided the excitement and inspiration that left an everlasting impression on a young Miss Tomkins. Eleanor moved to Lincoln with her family and completed a National Diploma in Theatre Crafts, which led to her acceptance for a two year Higher National Diploma in Special Effect Make-up at The London College of Fashion. Here Eleanor excelled and passed projects with distinction, but after working as a make up artist for over a year Eleanor realised that this was not her true calling.

Luckily, whilst attending the make-up trade show in 2006, Eleanor enrolled on a brilliant monster making course, taught by the top Hollywood model maker, Jordu Shell. Jordu is a truly amazing model maker and was a fantastic teacher; his work definitely left its mark! This course, accompanied by a St Martin's mould making course taught by Nick Brooks, have given great strength to Eleanor's skills.

Eleanor now makes models for illustrators and animators.
